Should you hire an award-winning SEO agency to drive sales and search rankings for your local business?
They won an award or made a “best of” list. They must be good, right?
Not really, especially if you define “good” as an agency whose efforts increases your sales.
See, here’s the problem with awards.
Awards and “best of lists” and “lists of top firms” are often bought.
Look at the email we received on August 1, 2022. We’ve redacted who it is from, but you’ll clearly see their offer to be shown on their “Best of Scottsdale Listing for SEO Firms” is based entirely on what we’ll pay, rather than being based on merit.

We get emails like this all the time.
The internet can be a cesspool of misleading information. Awards and “best of” lists are no exception. As with most things, buyer beware.
Look for an agency with a demonstratable record of increasing sales with strong return on investment.
In my experience, an agency advertising their awards and “best of” listings is an agency to avoid.
